Week 17 - FYP Presentation and Submit Blog.

This week will be the final presentation for Final Year Project students. The student will have to present their project and slides to their respective accessors. The students will have to do the presentation via Microsoft Teams. The accessors for my presentation will be madam Norhayati Yussof and sir Yusof Kadase.                This week will also be the week to submit the Final Year Project blog to the supervisor. The deadline given to submit the blog is during the presentation day which is on the 2nd of Jun 2021. The blog will be submitted by giving the link to the supervisor. The purpose of doing the blog is so that the supervisor can monitor the project progress of each week of their students.

Week 16 - FYP Slides and Presentation Preparation.

For this week, I submitted the draft of the technical report and final year project report to Sir Izwan. The purpose of submitting the report is so that the supervisors can help the student check their report format and contents, and to help check the plagiarism percentage before submitting the real report. The percentage should not exceed 30% as told during the final year project briefing. The draft report of this project scored 14% after doing the plagiarism check.          I also did the presentation slides for the final year project presentation. The content of the slides was taken from the final year project report. The slides were arranged following the guideline given by the final year project coordinator.

Week 15 - Project Presentation Video.

For this week, I did a bit of touch-up to the RFID Door Lock System. The door was spray painted so that it looks nicer. There was also a pad to show the user where to place their RFID card. The pad was placed above the RFID reader which is inside the door. The door is shown in the picture below.           I prepared the project demonstration video for the final year project presentation. The video is to show the accessors how the project will function. The video is needed because of the online presentation. At the start of the video, the components used for the system are shown. The video contains how the project looks like, how the door lock system functions if an authorized and unauthorized card is placed on the RFID reader. The video also shows the alert notification that the GSM sent when an unauthorized card is placed. The video is then uploaded to Microsoft Teams.

Week 14 - Technical Report Writing. (Thesis)

For this week, I wrote the technical report for the RFID Door Lock System with Alert Notification using GSM. A thesis  is a document submitted in support of candidature for an academic degree or professional qualification presenting the author's research and findings. The thesis is divided into 5 sections.               First is the introduction of the thesis. This section should include sufficient background information to set the work in context. The aims of the manuscript should be clearly stated. The introduction should not contain either findings or conclusions. Next are the Materials and Methods. This should be concise but provide sufficient detail to allow the work to be repeated by others. The third is the Results. The results should be presented in a logical sequence in the text, tables, and figures; repetitive presentation of the same data in different forms should be avoided  ...

Week 13 - Report Writing (Chapter 5).

For this week, I finished writing the last chapter for the technical report which is the conclusion. The main purpose of writing the conclusion is to s ummarize and reflect on the research, make recommendations for future work on the topic, and show the knowledge contributed to the report. The conclusion is aimed to leave the reader with a clear understanding of the main discovery or argument that your research has advanced.               For the recommendations, I recommended for future researchers to use Wi-Fi in exchange for the GSM because GSM needs a good and stable network connection to establish a connection to the network in order to send the alert notification to the user. The second recommendation is to install a backup battery so that the door lock system can function when there is a blackout happening. The final recommendation is to install a security camera to monitor the door from...

Week 12 - Report Writing (Chapter 4).

After finishing the project, it is time to do the technical report. For this week, I have done chapter 4 of the report. Chapter 4 is the Results and Discussion of the technical paper. The output of the project is discussed in this chapter of the report. It contains all of the data to support the hypothesis that was proposed in the introduction section. It serves to weave a coherent story and must communicate the findings to the reader in a logical, transparent manner.               This project managed to achieve the objective which is to provide protection for housing areas from any crime.  By observing the flowchart and block diagram, the outcome can be obtained as well as in the flowchart of the project. All the results of the project are shown step by step from turning on the Arduino Uno, waiting for the GSM to establish a connection, placing an authorized and an unauthorized RFID card o...

Week 11 - Designing and assembling the door for the project.

Image
For this week, I designed the door structure for the project. The design of the door prototype is done by hand. The size of the door is smaller compared to normal doors as the door is only a prototype. The measurements of the components are taken and written in a note. The design and measurements are then taken to a local carpenter to cut the planks and woods to assemble the door. 2 door hinges are used so that the door can be opened and closed. A door handle is screwed to the door so that users can grab the handle to open the door. All components are screwed inside the door securely so that they do not move around and get damaged.
