Week 3 - Finding the right library for the components.

            This week, I've received the ordered components. The Arduino environment can be extended through the use of libraries, just like most programming platforms. Libraries provide extra functionality for use in sketches, e.g. working with hardware or manipulating data.

                 The Arduino IDE comes with a set of standard libraries for commonly used functionality. These libraries support all the examples included with the IDE. Standard library functionality includes basic communication functions and support for some of the most common types of hardware like servo motors and character LCD displays. Standard Libraries are pre-installed in the "Libraries" folder of the Arduino install.

                The library of components downloaded are for the GSM, RFID and LCD. The library for the GSM is sim900A. The library for the RFID reader is RC522 and for the LCD is liquid crystal I2C. The libraries are downloaded from the Arduino official website. The libraries are then extracted into the Arduino folder to be used. The libraries are then compiled one by one in the Arduino IDE software to test the codes.

Week 11 - Designing and assembling the door for the project.

                For this week, I designed the door structure for the project. The design of the door prototype is done by hand. The size of the door is smaller compared to normal doors as the door is only a prototype. The measurements of the components are taken and written in a note. The design and measurements are then taken to a local carpenter to cut the planks and woods to assemble the door. 2 door hinges are used so that the door can be opened and closed. A door handle is screwed to the door so that users can grab the handle to open the door. All components are screwed inside the door securely so that they do not move around and get damaged.

Week 16 - FYP Slides and Presentation Preparation.

           For this week, I submitted the draft of the technical report and final year project report to Sir Izwan. The purpose of submitting the report is so that the supervisors can help the student check their report format and contents, and to help check the plagiarism percentage before submitting the real report. The percentage should not exceed 30% as told during the final year project briefing. The draft report of this project scored 14% after doing the plagiarism check.          I also did the presentation slides for the final year project presentation. The content of the slides was taken from the final year project report. The slides were arranged following the guideline given by the final year project coordinator.
